Program Details:
Day 1 Arrival in Bagdogra to Darjeeling.
Upon your arrival at Bagdogra airport our HBT representative will welcome you and transfer to Darjeeling is a gradual climb over the Himalayas. Once your stat climbing up through the beautiful landscape of tea garden and the toy train link crossing your road now and again, the view is breathtaking. The road gets very narrow slowly and very steep uphill but you can trust the skill of the local driver. Upon your arrival in Darjeeling, check into your hotel and evening walk in the Mall. Overnight in Darjeeling.
Day 2 Darjeeling sightseeing.
Early morning visit Tiger Hill for fabulous sunrise views of Mt.Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world at 28,156 ft. On our drive back to the hotel we will stop at Ghoom, a Tibetan-Buddhist monastery. After breakfast we shall visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Zoological Park, the Tibetan Refugee Camp and the nearest tea garden to witness the orthodox manufacturing process of Darjeeling Tea. Later walk around the Mall and the local market. Overnight in Darjeeling.
Day 3 Darjeeling to Peling.
Drive through steep downhill till Nayabazar on the Sikkim side passing through the tea gardens. Later drive through terraced farms and lush sub tropical vegetation on flat running just on top of river Rangeet then uphill through occasional villages, hamlets and forests. Pelling offers the magnificent views of eastern Himalayas including Mt. Kunchenjunga on a clear day. Visit the famous monasteries - Pemayangtse and Sangacholing including a short walk to ruins of Rabdentse, the second palace of erstwhile Sikkim. Overnight in Peling.
Day 4 Peling halt (Yuksom excursion).
Drive to Yuksom via Kechipalri Lake “Wishing Lake” (32 kms), which lies in the deep forest cover. The jeep drive passes through verdant forests, cardamom fields and terraced farms downhill about 8 kms and uphill about 6 kms to Yuksom the first capital of Sikkim, where according to the historical records, the first Chogyel of the Kingdom of Sikkim was consecrated in 1641 AD. The evidence of the consecration ceremony is still intact at Norbugang Corten in the form of stone seats and foot print of the Head Lame on a stone. Overnight in Peling.
Day 5 Peling to Rumtek.
After breakfast visit Dubdi Monastery located on a hill top above Yuksom surrounded by green forest. It can be approached by 30 to 35 minutes trekking only, negotiating steep slope. It is an ideal place for monks seeking meditation recluse. Later transfer to Martham via Tashiding Monastery (114, 5 hrs). Tashiding Monastery is constructed on top of a heart-shaped hill with the backdrop of the sacred Mt. Kanchenjunga. Tashiding is also famous for the most holy chorten.
Day 6 Rumtek to Gangtok.
After breakfast proceed to Gangtok via Rumtek Monastery the Dharma Chakra Centre which lies about 5 kms from Martham Village Resort en route to Gangtok. Check into Hotel in Gangtok and the sightseeing includes the Directorate of Handicrafts, Enchey Monastery, Deorali Goemba and the Institute of Tibetology.
Day 7 Gangtok halt.
Explore the hotel day in Gangtok and evening relax in your hotel. Overnight in Gangtok.
Day 8 Gangtok to Kalimpong.
Checkout from the hotel and transfer to Kalimpong where you will visit Deolo Hill, Dr Graham Homes School, Thonga Goma Monastary, Mangaldham, Zong Bog Puri Fo Braug Moadtary & Nurseries. Overnight stay at Kalimpong.
Day 9 Kalimpong to Phuentsholing.
Breakfast at hotel followed by drive to Phuentsholing. First part of the journey begins gradual climbing to the hill station then passes through the plains; a large range of foothill forests crawling with wildlife, farmhouses, tea gardens, transparent rivers interspersed with quiet villages and small townships of vibrant local culture. On arrival transfer to hotel for rest. Evening free on own. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10 Phuentsholing to Thimphu (6 hrs).
After breakfast drive to Thimphu en route visit Kharbandi Gompa, this beautiful monastery situated in a garden of tropical plants and flowers, was built by Royal Grandmother, Ashi Phuntsho Choedron in 1967, with a grand view of Phuentsholing town and the continuation of Jaigaon town, a border town of the Indian state of West Bengal. Overnight in Thimphu, altitude 2400m.
Day 11 Thimphu halt
After our leisurely breakfast we will start our day visiting handmade paper factory, visit painting school, nearby folk heritage museum and national library. Lunch in the town, after lunch we will drive to north end of Thimphu valley and hike to Tango monastery, which is converted into Buddhist college. Evening we will explore the weekend market (Thursday to Sunday only) and some handicrafts to understand the Bhutanese arts, textiles, painting, religious artifacts and the varieties. Overnight in Thimphu.
Day 12 Thimphu to Punakha (2.5 hrs).
After our delicious breakfast, we will checkout from the hotel and proceed to Punakha. En-route we will stop at beautiful Dochula pass at 3050m. The pass offers charming views of the entire northern Bhutanese Himalayas during a clear day. We have warm tea/coffee at the cafeteria on the pass and proceed to warm fertile valley of Punakha. Hike to Chimi lhakhang, the temple of fertility which is associates with religious arts of phallus. Visit most beautiful 17th century Punakha Dzong, which showcase the finest arts and architects of Bhutan. Overnight in Punakha, altitude 1350m.
Day 13 Punakha to Phobjikha (3 hrs).
Check out from the hotel after our delicious breakfast, we will drive to valley of black necked cranes via Wangdue. En-route we will visit Rinchengang village. Visit Gangey Gonpa and black necked crane center to get better idea and information about this endanger bird of Bhutan which migrates from Tibetan plateau to Phobjikha in every winter. Later in the evening we will visit typical Bhutan farm house or choose to stay at farm house that we offer in Phobjikha. Overnight in Phobjikha, altitude 2900m.
Day 14 Phobjikha to Paro (6 hrs)
Check out from the hotel after our breakfast and retrace our drive back to Paro via, Wangdue, Dochula and Thimphu. On arrival in Paro, we will visit national museum of Bhutan and Paro dzong. Evening we will explore the tiny Paro town. Overnight in Paro, altitude 2200m.
Day 15 Paro sightseeing.
Early morning after our delicious breakfast drive to north end of Paro valley and hike to Tiger Nest Temple. The hike to Tiger’s Nest will take most of our day. The temple is one of the most renowned temple in the Buddhist world one of the ten most visit site before we die. This is most revolted temple in the country that literally hangs on a granite cliff overlooking the Paro Valley at 900m above the valley. En-route visit Kichu Lhakhang, one from the 2 oldest Buddhist temple in the country, historic Drukgyal Dzong (Fortress) and Evening at leisure. Overnight in Paro.
Day 16 Departure.
The tour will end today. After the breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight. Carry smile on your face, eyes with tears and memories unlimited. Tour staffs will bid you farewell at the airport departure gate with the quick prayer of save journey and to see you again in future.
